New Zealand has unveiled a new $1,000 (£800) dining table that may be Australia’s most expensive.
The New Zealand dining table, dubbed the “couch”, has been named the “most expensive” in the country.
“We really want to create something that’s beautiful and fun, so we’ve designed it to be incredibly comfortable, but also very powerful,” owner Paul O’Brien said.
The dining table is made of aluminium, stainless steel and wood, and costs $1.7m (£1.2m).
The new dining table was designed by Mr O’Briens son and his wife, and will go on display at the Auckland Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Mr O’Brian said it took about three weeks to make the table, which cost about $500,000.
The $1m dining table in Australia’s Perth Museum was built in 2008.
